Formal Events for any Tiger Meet
Because we have no pictures of NTM 2001, pictures of NTM 1998 in Lechfeld are used to demonstrate the formal events!
1. Flag Ceremonies (opening and closing of the tiger meet)
Die offizielle Eröffnungs- und Schließungs Zeremonie von NATO Tigermeets. Es treten hierzu alle teilnehmenden Soldaten an. Nach den Begrüßungs- oder Verabschiedungsansprachen des Kommodore der Basis, sowie evtl. von anwesenden Generälen, wird neben der NATO Flagge von jeder teilnehmenden Nation die Nationalflagge gehisst, bzw. eingeholt.
Official opening- and closing ceremony for the Tigermeet. All participants line up. After welcome/good-bye words by the Station Commander and/or attending generals the flags are risen/taken down. Besides the NATO flag is there the national flag for every participating nation.
2. International night
Jede teilnehmende Staffel präsentiert ihre Nation mit landespezifischen kulinarischen Spezialitäten. Zusätzlich können dazu regionale Trachten und Kleider getragen werden. Die Qualität und Originalität der dargebotenen Speisen, sowie das Auftreten der gesamten Mannschaft, fließen in die Bewertung für die Verleihung der "Silver Tiger Trohpy" ein. Each participating squadron presents their nation, and/or their region, with traditional food and clothing. Qualitiy and Originality of the presented food go into the scoring for the "Silver Tiger Trophy".
3. Tiger Games
Bei den Tiger Games treten die einzelnen Staffeln auf unterhaltsame Art und Weise in einen Wettstreit miteinander. Die zu erfüllenden Aufgaben können sowohl sportlicher, als auch mehr Geschicklichkeit orientierter Art sein. Meist sind sie eine Kombination von beiden. Gefragt sind immer ausgeprägter Teamgeist und meist auch gute Feinmotorik. Die erzielen Ergebnisse fliessen in die Gesamtpunktzahl für die Silver Trophy ein. Trotz ausgelassener Stimmung, gesundem Konkurenzdenken und nicht zu unterschätzenden Schwierigkeitsgraden, spielt das Prinzip des "FAIR PLAY" immer eine wichtige Rolle.
During the tiger games the participating teams compete in an entertaining but challenging way against each other. The given tasks are sportive but always also entertaining for the spectators. What's mainly needed is good sensitivity a bunch of teamspirit. Fairplay is a major content although the temper is hot and fighting is tight. The results score for the silver trophy.
4. Squadron Presentation
Bei diesem event präsentiert jede Staffel durch eine kleine Theateraufführung, auf witzige Art und Weise, den normalen Dienstbetrieb, oder den Zustand der eigenen Streitkräfte, oder oder oder.
During this event each squdron presents itself, the daily duty, the airforce or anything else in a funny manner with a short play.
5. Gala Dinner

6. Silver Tiger Trophy
Aus der Summe der events und presentations, sowie dem allgemeinen Erscheinungsbild und Auftreten als Tiger Staffel, wird die für das Tigermeet beste Staffel gekürt. Sie erhält als Preis den Silver Tiger, der beim nächsten Tiger Meet zurückgegeben und neu erkämpft werden muss.
As a sum up of all events, as well as the general behavior and the tiger attitude of all participating squadrons, the best of all is selected and receives the Silver Tiger which has to be handed off at the next tiger meet.
7. DEAD BUG
Der Ursprung dieses "Verfahrens" konnte leider nicht mehr genau in Erfahrung gebracht werden. Auf den Ruf "dead bug", eines hierzu berechtigten Mitgliedes der Tiger Gemeinschaft, schmeissen sich alle anwesenden Tiger rücklings auf den Boden, strecken die Beine gegen die Decke, oder den Himmel und beginnen zu strampeln, wie man es von auf dem Rücken liegenden Käfern kennt.
The origin of this procedure is for the moment not known to the author. On the call "dead bug" by any authorized member of the tiger community (mainly detachment or squadron commanders), all present tigers drop to the floor, turn onto their back and move their legs as it can be seen when a dead or dying bug moves its extremities in agony.
